Inner North Medicare Mental Health Centres
A safe place to share what’s on your mind.
The Medicare Mental Health Centre is a free service that supports people who are living with mental health distress, as well as the families and carers of people living with mental health distress. The program provides free integrated clinical and non-clinical supports and is designed to help people who aren’t receiving mental health supports elsewhere.
This service is free and does not require a Medicare card.
Who we help
The Medicare Mental Health Centre supports people who are:
- Over the age of 18
- Residing in the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital catchment area (see map of catchment suburbs below)
- Not receiving case management support through Queensland Health or support through Hospital to Home
How we help
Every Medicare Mental Health Centre is a little different, so the services available may vary slightly depending on the location.
The Inner North Mental Health Centre will offer:
- Psychosocial support
- Clinical care navigation
- Psychological therapies
- Drop-in support during open hours - no appointment needed
- Immediate help for people experiencing mental health distress
- Peer Service Guide support - comprehensive assistance from people with lived experience
- Brief intervention support (typically 3-6 months)
- Support for carers and families of people facing mental health challenges
You do not need a Medicare card to access the service. The service is completely free.
We are a community-based, voluntary support service that is independent of Medicare and open to everyone. Whether you’re an Australian citizen or not, you’re welcome here.
